Austin, TX Wedding | Lauren + Jason

matties on the green wedding ceremony

Good energy speaks volumes and I loved meeting Lauren & Jason for the first time over coffees and one of my favorite spots in Austin, Cosmic. They had their wedding at Mattie’s on the Green which was conveniently located just down the street from their home. It was a beautiful laid back wedding with perfect weather for an outdoor patio reception, perfectly timed to be able to watch the sunset over dinner. The speeches were heartfelt and the dance moves went down with spirit. All in all, I think these photos sum up the meaning of “amazing Austin wedding”. Props to Stems floral and Greenbelt DJ for helping to make that happen.

Las Vegas, NV Wedding | Alex + Michael

bride and groom with helicopter

It’s always a good start to an inquiry when the bride is a sister of a former client. Alex’s sister got married in Tucson a few years ago which was another incredibly beautiful event to be a part of. To be honest, when Michael told me the ceremony site would only be accessible for 20 guests via helicopter I had no idea what I was getting into. I didn’t do much research prior to the day of and was simply along for the ride. On the way to the site, I was in the front with the pilot and Alex and her two sisters were in the back. I could see tiny Michael, some of both of their family, and two more helicopters on the edge from way above, like little ants. It was overwhelmingly emotional to be approaching a wedding ceremony in, for lack of a better term, the most epic of ways. I helped the groom and officiant assemble in the best spot for lighting and Alex’s dad helped her out of the helicopter to give her away. After portraits and a champagne toast we took a sunset ride back over the Las Vegas strip, oddly enough, it happened to be earth hour at that exact time, so all of major neon lights were shut off to conserve energy. I think we were all beyond elated on the limo ride back to the venue to meet up with their friends. My second shooter, Deleigh, was able to catch all the cocktail hour fun with showgirls, magicians, and fire dancers at the 2810. Oh, and of course Michael had to have a shot block too. Here’s to a couple with one hell of an imagination to come up with all these amazing ideas for their wedding. And of course props to the planner that helped make it happen, the lil things events.

Austin, TX Wedding | Thao + Doug

bride and groom on UT campus

I don’t remember everything we talked about during our initial Skype consultation but I do remember feeling very excited to be a part of their wedding day. During our correspondence we also decided to meet up at Yosemite national park for their engagement session, which was such a fun opportunity to get to know them better. (If you haven’t experienced their photogenic faces in such a photogenic place, I recommend checking it out!) Thao and Doug were absolutely ear to ear the entire day, even despite a little rain as we were wandering around UT campus for their first look. Just taking the opportunity to (finally) share their images has me smiling all over again. Everyone had nothing but amazing things to say about these two and many made trek from around the country. Not to mention I still dream of what I only remember as a 4925 coarse meal served at their dinner reception. Last but not least, congratulations to these two for the recent birth of their baby boy, Liam, just a few months ago. P.S. Can’t forget props to Pearl Events, Texas Pro DJs, & Texas Federation of Women’s Club.
