As a fellow photography major from Texas State (a few years after me), I felt like Sarah understood the aesthetic I go for in my photography. Her trust in my artistic vision was an honor to have. Sarah & Andrew both warmed up to me so quickly on the wedding day and their sheer excitement to be marrying each other exuded, which made my job as their photographer even easier. They had a chill wedding at the perpetually beautiful Le San Michele in Buda. While running around after the ceremony taking sunset photos on the property, we ran into a rather potentially poisonous looking snake which certainly kept us on our toes for the rest of the evening. Texas gave us a beautiful sunset and great tacos as we listened to their amazing music selections, from Radiohead to Dr. Dog, into the night. This was a loving crowd full of good energy and I felt it all night.

I was lucky enough to click with Laura the minute I spoke to her on the phone about her wedding day. We went to Zilker Park and Lake Austin for their engagement session where Lindsay took us out on their boat. A perfect evening watching the sunset over the 360 bridge finished off by an amazing dinner. So by the time I showed up in Hawaii to meet up with them at their rehearsal dinner, they felt like good friends. In true Hawaii style it was a beautiful day at the Mauna Kea beach hotel where the ceremony and reception were held outside. Despite the fire dancers briefly catching the DJ’s stage on fire, they put on an amazing show before the party got started. After the reception exit I hung out with the bridal party until the wee hours of the morning getting to know the couple and their group of friends. Since then we’ve been able to connect in their current city of Austin as well as their former city of Denver. We’re due to catch up again asap. :)

I absolutely love reconnecting with former clients at weddings, it is such an honor to be thought of again years after their friend or family’s wedding day. In this case, I photographed Camillia & Will’s wedding in Puerto Rico back in 2011 as well as her brother’s wedding in Austin in 2016. On their wedding date last June, I couldn’t help but post one of my favorite photos (the last) and write about how I felt. “Putting in words how I feel tonight has been a difficult undertaking. Appreciative, proud, grateful are a few words I can think of but they still don’t do my feelings justice. There is so much more to the way my clients can make me feel after photographing them. I’ve always thought of myself as a person that is weak in empathy, (in true honesty), but my clients evoke feelings in me I didn’t know I had the ability to feel… and like finding a muscle you didn’t know you had, you work it out to become stronger. Then all of a sudden, it’s a regular muscle in use. I photographed Sandra’s cousin’s wedding almost 7 years ago and today I hung out with their family again like it was yesterday. That is special. ♥️ ” Looking back on the photos 10 months later makes me feel so special all over again.

It’s no secret that I am very behind on blogging some incredible weddings from all over the place. Cat & Nick’s wedding at the Wild Onion Ranch in Austin was nearly a year ago but I was reminded of their wedding recently after grabbing a drink with them in Denver where I split half of my year now. It was my first to visit the South Congress hotel where Cat had got ready for the wedding. It was just one of those gorgeous days in May where the sun went through the oak trees in just the perfect spot. As usual with Pearl Events, I had my team along with me, Adore makeup, Texas Pro Djs, Bouquets of Austin, & Mark Morarie films. Mark & I even managed to grab a few drinks with Cat & Nick after the reception resulting in us staying out well past my bedtime, it was worth it to be able to get to know these two better. <3
