I’ve probably said it before but it is worth reiterating how special it is to be invited to photograph a fellow wedding photographer’s wedding. (One that is incredibly talented at that – Logan Westom, check them out). Logan had been following my work since the beginning days of my business through a fellow wedding photographer friend. We had not met prior to the wedding but He contacted me once he and Allie got engaged knowing I was a huge fan of destination weddings. They both live outside of Seattle, so it wasn’t as far of a destination for them but a destination none-the-less. They invited their family to a small church ceremony in Cannon Beach, OR before heading to Leavenworth, WA to have a larger ceremony and celebration at the Brown Family Homestead. The day before the wedding we also got to attend the Oktoberfest in the nearby German inspired downtown of Leavenworth. Arriving back to the wedding venue, we encountered my first bear sitting, running just 10 feet in front of our car after likely scouting for food left over from the rehearsal. I had a lot of first experiences with this wedding, the first time my client lost a cellphone into the ocean during portraits for example, as well as the first time I got to wake up in the same household as my clients the morning of the wedding, not to mention one of the top 5 best sunsets I’ve seen of my life. All fond memories that feel like yesterday but have now since been just shy of a year ago. These two share a sense of adventure and passion for life that I will always be inspired by. Thank you again Allie & Logan, for being a part of these memories and please come visit me in Denver some time :)
It sure is amazing that Austin can host an all outdoor wedding in the middle of February with perfect weather. It was a perfect day overlooking Lake Travis from start to finish at Villa del Lago. [side note: I’m so sad to say that this is one of the last weddings this venue will see due to new ownership] April & Trevor had an amazing line up of vendors including Pearl Events, the Drywater Band, Royal Fig catering, and of course Big Dog Pyro, some of these of which I have been working with for upwards of 10 years now. (kind of crazy!) I couldn’t have asked for a more easy going day as a photographer, thank you for having me April and Trevor, I can’t wait to get started on your album!
Le San Michele
As a fellow photography major from Texas State (a few years after me), I felt like Sarah understood the aesthetic I go for in my photography. Her trust in my artistic vision was an honor to have. Sarah & Andrew both warmed up to me so quickly on the wedding day and their sheer excitement to be marrying each other exuded, which made my job as their photographer even easier. They had a chill wedding at the perpetually beautiful Le San Michele in Buda. While running around after the ceremony taking sunset photos on the property, we ran into a rather potentially poisonous looking snake which certainly kept us on our toes for the rest of the evening. Texas gave us a beautiful sunset and great tacos as we listened to their amazing music selections, from Radiohead to Dr. Dog, into the night. This was a loving crowd full of good energy and I felt it all night.
