San Juan, Puerto Rico Wedding | Taryn + Javi
Hotel El Convento Wedding
We met Taryn & Javi on a rainy day in New York city for their engagement session about 11 months before their wedding day. Although it was supposed to rain on their wedding day as well, it was a perfectly sunny day instead. Taryn & Javi had their ceremony at the San Juan Cathedral and their reception at our favorite San Juan hotel, the El Convento. Their wedding incorporated Catholic, family, and Puerto Rican traditions. At the reception, Taryn's dad made sure to grab a have a photo with Taryn & a basketball, a family tradition since she was in high school. Taryn had also surprised Javi at the reception with a traditional Pleneros band that kept the party raging in between a band break. The energy was infectious as everyone seemed to know every word to every song! The party continued on after the El Convento and ending up lasting until the wee hours of the morning by the pool of La Concha. This was our third trip to Puerto Rico for a wedding and it did not disappoint as we were finally able to see a different side of the island we had never seen before, the side with beautiful beaches! Two days after the wedding we went with Taryn & Javi and some of their wedding guests on a catamaran to clear blue waters for snorkeling. Unfortunately, many of us walked away with sunburns. :)
