Surprise Aspen Proposal
Gibson contacted me about 3 months prior to his grand plan of proposing to his girlfriend of almost 10 years. Although Aspen is a little bit of a trek from Denver, I couldn’t resist being a part of the fun. While I was there for a wedding in July I scoped out a few spots for Gibson, nothing too far away that would lead her to suspect anything. We decided on Wagner Park, located in central Aspen, just a couple blocks from their Airbnb. Gibson & I sent several texts coordinating the perfect time for not only lighting but also so they would have an excuse to be “walking to get drinks” at the St Regis Hotel. We sent selfies indicating who we’d be looking for and when they walked by the exact spot, it was go time! A couple of their friends & family members were already with them, aware of what was about to happen, and let them walk ahead for a moment alone. Just after Gibson got down on one knee in front of Cassidy, his parents, sister, and her best friends walked up to surprise her. It was a beautiful and special moment to capture. After the proposal in the park we all walked to the Hotel Jerome for drinks, snacks, and portraits. What an honor to capture a memory of a lifetime, I hope to be able to photograph more proposal in the future.
